DISTRICT ACHIEVEMENT AUDITIONS

PURPOSE

Give piano and instrumental students from grades K-12 and vocal students from grades 7-12 the opportunity to perform for a critique and rating.

Those students making a I+, I, or I- rating are eligible to perform in the OMTA State Achievement Audition.

Students who receive a I+, I or I- at District will receive a medal after playing.

Students may enter the Merit Division at State if they make a I or I+ and score at least a 75% grade or higher on the theory test.  Merit Division students play a different piece at the State Audition, which must be listed on the District entry form.

REQUIREMENTS

Perform one memorized piece.

Note:  If a student arrives at District Auditions with a piece that does not meet OMTA guidelines or is different from the piece that was listed on the registration, they may play for critique only.  They will not qualify for the State Achievement Audition or any awards.

Refer to OMTA's District Achievement Page and the FAQs for more requirement details.
