Auditions and Competitions - OMTA

OMTA Junior Competition: October 15, Oral Roberts University

PURPOSE: Choose students from grades three through eight to perform on Northeast District Convention program.

REQUIREMENTS: Perform one piece from memory.
ENTRY FEE: $15

 

OMTA Auditions:  November 11/12, OSU, Stillwater

PURPOSE: Winners wlill perform on OMTA Conference Program.
JUNIOR HONOR COMPETITION: For students in grades 5 and 6 who study with a nationally certified teacher. For piano and instrumental.

ENTRY FEE: $20

COLLEGIATE AUDITIONS: For high school graduates who have not reached age twenty-seven by audition date. For piano, organ, voice, and orchestral instruments.
ENTRY FEE:  $20

 

OMTA Senior Competition:  February 18, Tyrell Hall, University of Tulsa

PURPOSE: Choose students from grades nine through twelve to perform at OMTA Conference, June 1-2, Oklahoma City University, OKC

REQUIREMENTS: Two pieces performed from memory. 1) from the Baroque/Classical 2) from the Romantic/Contemporary

ENTRY FEE: $15

 

OMTA Senior Auditions Finalist Competition, April 21, Norman, OK

PURPOSE: Winners will be selected to perform on a Winners' Recital at the State Conference.

REQUIREMENTS: Perform two pieces from memory.

 

OMTA District Achievement Audition/Theory Tests:  
March 10 (Tulsa North), Timko-Barton Hall, Oral Roberts University
March 31 (Tulsa South), Timko-Barton Hall, Oral Roberts University
March 10 (Strings), Timko-Barton Hall, Oral Roberts University
March 10 (Owasso/Claremore/Collinsville), Friendship Baptist Church, Owasso

PURPOSE:  Give piano and instrumental students from grades kindergarten through twelve, vocal students from grades nine through twelve, the opportunity to perform for a critique and rating; those students making a I+, I, or I- rating are eligible to perform in the OMTA State Achievement Audition.

REQUIREMENTS: Perform one memorized piece. See OMTA handbook for repertoire guidelines.
MERIT DIVISION QUALIFICATIONS: District rating of I or I+, take a theory test, and perform a different piece at State. The teacher must list both pieces on the District Entry form. Additional Merit Division Trophy will be awarded to all entries.

ENTRY FEE: $15

 

OMTA State Achievement Auditions:  May 11, 12, Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma City

PURPOSE:  Give students the opportunity to earn a medal or trophy with rating of 1 or 1+. The Clarence Burg Achievement Award will be presented to students in grade 12 who have participated in the State Achievement Audition all four years in grades 9 through 12.

The Repertoire Award will be presented to students after the performance of a piece from each of the style eras: Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Impressionistic/Contemporary. The Merit Division Trophy will be awarded to all qualified entries who take the theory test and perform a different piece at State.
