Auditions and Competitions - TAMTA

TAMTA Music Festival:  November 15, Timko-Barton Hall, ORU

PURPOSE:  Give students from grades kindergarten through twelve the opportunity to perform for a judge.

REQUIREMENTS:  One or more of the following:  solo (memorized); duet (memorization optional); original composition.

ENTRY FEE: $15

 

BARNES AND NOBLE Christmas Playathon:  December 6/7, Barnes and Noble Bookstore, 8620 E. 71st St.<

PURPOSE:  Fundraiser for TAMTA Scholarship, Family and Children's      Services, CFO Foundation, and MTNA Foundation.  Give students an opportunity to perform Christmas carols.

REQUIREMENTS:  Students may play one Christmas piece, memorized or unmemorized.  (Other repertoire may be played.)

ENTRY FEE:  Each student will be given Barnes and Noble vouchers to be distributed to family, friends, and neighbors.
 
POSTMARK DEADLINE:  November 21

 

TAMTA Young Musicians Rehearsal & Recital: February 7

PURPOSE:Choose students ages four through seven years to perform on Young Musicians Recital.

REQUIREMENTS: Perform one memorized piece that has minimum length of twelve measures.

ENTRY FEE:  $15

DEADLINE: January 24

 

TAMTA Sonatina Competition:  February  28, Tyrrell Hall, the University of Tulsa

PURPOSE:  Give students the opportunity to perform an entire Sonatina and compete for trophies in Level A and cash awards or trophies in Levels I, II, III, IV, and V. First place winners perform for TAMTA March meeting. First place winners may not compete in that level again. They may move up to the next highest level.

REQUIREMENTS:  Perform an entire multi-movement sonatina by memory. Teachers wishing to enter a Sonatina not listed may submit it to the Sonatina Committee for approval before October 1, 2008.  See TAMTA Roster for Repertoire List.

ENTRY FEE:  $15

 


Spindler-Lynch Piano Awards: Preliminaries-April 18 Finals - April 25, Philbrook
PURPOSE:  To encourage high standards of performance among young people, and to give recognition to those who strive for excellence.
Category I (Grades 7 and 8): 1st place=$100, 2nd place=$75, 3rd place=$50, Finalists=$25 each. Category II (grades 9 and 10): 1st Place=$100, 2nd Place=$75, 3rd Place=$50, Finalists=$25 each.

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS: Two memorized solo piano compositions of contrasting styles. Select 1)Baroque or Classical, 2) Romantic or Modern. All changes in repertoire must be approved two weeks in advance by the chair.

Teacher of participant must have been a TAMTA member since July 1, 2008. All repertoire is subject to approval.
